It is amazing how quickly things can change. I wonder if we'll ever see legislation introduced in Canada to end the CMHC?

This is substantial because it in many ways is a bipartisan effort. The REIC lobby isn't as well-heeled as it once was :P

Five years after the peak Americans are finally starting to get real about RE.

Which means the politicians are too. Compare McCain's promise during the 2008 election campaign to prop up the housing market with public funds to what he's saying now.

But you really can't compare F/F to CMHC. The former were failed private sector corporations which had to be rescued by the government. Easy to say 'good riddance'. Nobody's proposing to get rid of FHA, which is a more appropriate counterpart.

No way. According to CMHC CEO, "CMHC manages its mortgage insurance business at no cost to Canadian taxpayers, through sound business practices...". More fun here:
